PLEASE ALLOW US MOURN THE DEAD (Poem)
…by Poetic Tee “Here, take a sip”
A fortnight witnessed the same
A crane in chaos created a banger
I refused to join in the blame game
Or throw at anybody a mean stinger
Seek ye now scapegoats to fit a frame?
Saudi authorities chose to point fingers
African pilgrims, they’ve chosen to blame
Though contrary voices shout other singers
Wrong decision taken by, what’s his name?
Mohammad bin Salman, who’s not a stranger
Prince Al Saud’s blockade ushered in the shame
Instructions, schedules shredded with a dagger
So the complaint against blackness and a dame
Blocking a river, flowing inch by inch, not longer
All they seek is Lord’s Pleasure, not some fame
Who knows not avalanche is filled with danger
Now it creeps out, an excuse so weak, so lame
After damages unfold by the minutes, bigger
Remember though, a date with destiny came
717 souls lost, 850 injured makes count larger
N31+ million for each life death prey to claim
As bold Sharia compensates even a beggar
Hajj mabroor for each victim’s the sole aim
Sad our Al-Miskin and Bilkisu live no longer
Who can fill such vacuums, our pains tame?
Instead you apportion faults to our bagger
Let’s amend the loopholes, quench the flame
O Allah, for every martyr, make us stronger.

THE PRESENCE IN THE ABSENCE (Poem)
The scene was dark, silent, still
Except for the soft hum above
Pouring from grinding swings
As my mind stands in akimbo
Fearless, looking around for it.
Lurking, swallowed in its dread
Its presence pervades its absence
Eerie hides, embraced in blackness
'bout to pounce a pounding heart
I'm ready for it, though I see it not.
It manifests then disappears
Stalking its prey with precision
A clear case of ghost and darkness
I am I, steadfast, its bait. It? It is both.
But impatience gives not, but regrets.
Finally, it strikes with fangs ablaze
I? I become one with air it breaths
Penetrate its temple, simple, ample
Each cell yeilds to its rest in stillness.

POETS VERSING #FoundPoetry
As found by Poetic Tee “Here, Take a sip”
Yantagwaye’s Verse:
We are poets
But in your presence
masterly Bard;
whose poetry stings like bee,
we are just footless caravans
struggling to draw water
out of an old desert well.
Poetic Tee’s Verse:
No, you are no such.
You are each, but
stars from afar, suns up close
enough in warmth
more in brilliance
to support a billion earths
with your wisdom.
Be you you, eternal poets.

the Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State. And for the 2016 gathering, the day
