THE ANGOLAN MIND

This is a series of Haiku Poems written by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip" as inspired by the controvercial Angola's ban on Islam (http://www.dhakatribune.com/africa/2013/nov/26/angola-bans-islam-shuts-mosques), which sensationalize the internet during the 3rd weekend of November 2013 via some websites.

In response to the scandalous news, a Haiku poem titled ANGOLA BANS LIGHT was first penned and posted on Facebook by Poetic Tee and it reads thus:

ANGOLA BANS LIGHT

Angola bans light
Choosing to dwell in darkness
For how long? Poor souls.

This inspired other poets to immediately start expressing their dismay at the unpleasant news. While condemnations poured out from different individuals and sources for such a fundamental human rights violation by Angola, the series were penned down and scheduled to further reinforce the outrage.

The Haiku poems are 21 in number and were published one after another on both my Facebook wall and Twitter account. They are a representation of the mind of Angola as it took the unfortunate decision without considering the possible consequences of such a rule. Similar scenerios are presented to The Angolan Mind and its reaction to them are expressed along the ban on Islam path to show how impossibly inhumane the decision was. 

It was while the 13th piece was  posted that another Breaking News was made stating that Angola has denied banning Islam in their country via this link: http://www.ibtimes.com/angola-denies-it-banned-islam-destroyed-mosques-1484898.

1. KILL OUR OWN CHILD

"Bad's our neighbour son
Let's kill our own child in case
He turns evil too."

2. NIGERIANS ARE CROOKS

"Nigerians are crooks
Stop transacting with any
None is trust-worthy."

3. ONE BAD APPLE

The apple tree bears
Few sour ones in a billion
"Uproot it now. Now!"

4. BREAST CANCER

"You have breast cancer
And there is no cure yet
My advice? Suicide"

5. ANGOLA'S IGNORANCE, INDULGE

"Human rights violation
Naah! This is a cult, Angola"
Ignorance, indulge!

6. 2 BILLION MAN STRONG

"Islam, evil cult"?
Worshiping in the open
2 billion man strong!

7. KILL ANGOLA'S ISLAM

Let's make history
Albeit infamously! "Aye!"
Kill Angola's Islam

8. KILL HER FOR THE CHILD

My wife is bad, mad
It seems she is pregnant
"Kill her for the child"

9. BURY HER, ALIVE

That child is trouble
She brings home nothing but that
"Bury her, alive!"

10. EXILE THEM, BAN THEM

The Jews are evil
Through all time in history
"Exile them, ban them"

11. MUSLIM ARE BACKWARD

"Muslims are backward
So what if Europe advanced
In knowledge through them"

12. MUSLIMS RIGHTS VIOLATION

Violate a Muslim's rights
The "just" world ignores the crime
Uphold and get condemned.

13. JUSTICE'S MURDER

Angola bans it
The "civil" minds celebrate
Justice's murder. Chai!

14. TEAR IT UP, WALK OUT

Just how smart are you?
Faced with a tough test question
"Tear it up! Walk out!"

15. I AM ANGOLA!

"I do not care
If it's World Number 1 faith
I Am Angola!"

16. 1.8 BILLION MY FOOT

"World fastest growing
My foot! It's no religion.
1.8 billion?!!!"

17. "ANGOLA'S NOT MAD!!!"

"I'm civilized!
Yes, this is Twenty-first Cee!
Angola's not MAD!!!"

18. LOOSING ANGOLA TO ISLAM

"Can you not see it?
Am afraid of loosing me
To Islam, the Peace"

19. ANGOLA DENIES

Angola denies
Banning ISLAM. Well, well, well!
No fire, no smoke!

20. THERE'S NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION

In religion no
Compulsion. For you, your ways
For me, mine. Respect.

21. RIGHTS TO WORSHIP

The rights to freely
Worship is fundamental
Deny not one soul.
