Ramadhan Fasting
...

For me, it started at seven
I observed, was it eleven?
Hoping to make them a dozen
But was told "Be not worry-driven"
For a starter, even one 'll reach heaven.





Ablution is a time of succour
Dryness soaks in a wetness pour
Risking water in a mouthwash tour
Testing us both, the rich and the poor
Let's see, who has control over their door.






Movement slows to conserve energy
Body fluids flow free from any allergy
Calling for sober reflections, a synergy
Of mind, body, soul, spirit, not lethargy
Done strictly for The True One, not an effigy.





Sleep creeps-in to steal off hunger
Make one frail, weak, lacking ginger
As hours get cut, yet it seems longer
Saum ensures one's faith grows stronger
A forbearance training for a self in danger.







So, this is how many live their day'
Yet keeping mum, with plenty to say
Sad that men ignore this, but still pray
From Shawwal to Ramadhan or is it May?
So, feel for humanity as best as you may.






Discipline, perseverance, patience
Separated from fakery and pretence
Showing courage, bravery not weakness
As Day 1 turns 29 containing 83+ blissful years
Of bountiful blessing ever in His Glorious Presence.
