WHITE SHADOW

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

The Shadow
I adore,
So short, can be non-visible
So long, it stretches to infinity
Yes, it "abandons" you in the dark
So what?
Who needs a torch light
In broad day light?

The Shadow
A loyal friend
From entry to exit
Stays with you cradle to grave
Bearing witness to all you do
Or is done to you?
In the open or in confinement
A dark attire to all matter.

The Shadow
Master of mimicry
Not in living colors
Or in 3 dimensions
Consistently there
Even in the dark
For the few with eyes
In their mind, that see.

The Shadow
Doesn't discriminate between
The cheap and the expensive
The ugly and the beautiful
The poor and the rich or
The crude and the refined
Casting all in the same hue
A soft shade of black.

The Shadow
Lessons us that, like it
We should survive a swallow
By the monstrous darkness
Emerging refreshed, each time
Light shines upon us after
Experiencing fear, gloom
Dark days and stormy nights.

The Shadow
Unlike the mirror
That reflects what stands before it
Is forever in a free fall
Onto any surface found
Since air and space refuse it
A plane to embrace
So, why aren't you ever white, O shadow?

A DROP IS AN OCEAN - NonetPoem

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

We take for granted what we do know
Yet, when a simple question's asked
And none in a gathering
Can answer, correctly
We then realize
Our lil' drop is
An ocean
Fit to
Swim.

I LIVE ON IN MY WORDS.

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

Instead of squandering all my God allotted time

In painful, purposeless, pursuits of world vanities
I'm taking a little off my today, investing it in words
That I might live on, in my writings when I'm long gone.

A SELFIE ODE

A SELFIE ODE
..by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

O Poetic Tee
Thou pen art mighty
Humbled of The AlMighty
Inviting me to sip your tee
Blissful, unlike any other tea
Oh my! My cup's already empty
Swept away, lost with sheer "santi"*
Of your poesy brew, I desire in plenty
Not once or twice, way beyond infinity
Ask me why? Because of its originality
Clean, clear delight of excessive purity
A male peacock, what charming beauty
An indulgence sure to return one's sanity
I simply love its sacred, mesmerizing quality.

ECLIPSE

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

I'm the golden sun, yours, you my silver moon.
Twin of a breath, rhyming rhythmically inhale, exhale
Synonymous love we share like dark to night, light to day
Come to me O Subtleleenaa, let's eclipse now, now, not later.

LAST RIDE HOME - A Sweet Lesson On Patience. (Shared)

A NYC Taxi driver wrote:

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.'

'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?'

'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly..

'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice..'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move.

They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.
'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing,' I said

'You have to make a living,' she answered.

'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life..

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver,or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.

But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

POETIC FORM: CISQUAIN

The cinquain , also known as a quintain or quintet, is a poem or stanza composed of five lines. Examples of cinquains can be found in many European languages, and the origin of the form dates back to medieval French poetry.

The most common cinquains in English follow a rhyme scheme of ababb, abaab or abccb. Sixteenth and seventeenth-century poets such as Sir Philip Sidney, George Herbert , Edmund Waller , and John Donne
frequently employed the form, creating numerous variations. Among the many cinquains written by Herbert is
"The World," which begins:

Love built a stately house, where Fortune came,
And spinning fancies, she was heard to say
That her fine cobwebs did support the frame,
Whereas they were supported by the same;
But Wisdom quickly swept them all away.

Other examples of the form include "To Helen" by Edgar Allen Poe,

which begins:

Helen, thy beauty is to me
Like those Nicean barks of yore,
That gently, o'er a perfumed sea,
The weary, way-worn wanderer bore
To his own native shore.

Adelaide Crapsey, an early twentieth-century poet, used a form of 22 syllables distributed among the five lines in a 2, 4, 6, 8, and 2 pattern, respectively. Her poems share a similarity with the Japanese tanka, another five-line form, in their focus on imagery and the natural world.

DELILAH LIMERICKS & POETIC TEE'S RE-WRITE...

THE ORIGINAL POEM READS LIKE THIS:

*Delilah Limericks*

I Hate Love so I Ate gloves for protection against Cupid. It's Stupid, I know, so, brother please ignore my ignorance. Or else look for another versed in arrogance who thinks he's has Stamina enough to under-Stand women.
The pain and my stain leaves chains in my brain and a train of thoughts Derailed by lovers whose Butts Sat on my Heart and Broke it.
It's much like School, and Heart break time is such a wonderful thing, They don't teach you anything! You Play and get Played , lay and get laid. And when the bell goes for you to get some Class, you play Truant and stay Soiling you hands and Washing your dirty linen in public...
It's funny, For the first time again I fell in love with Delilah. I'm going to get my haircut tonight, so this poem is just the brain child of stupidity. The barber whipers and I smile:
Only two things can kill a man. A bullet,
Or a woman.

MY RE-WRITE:

John Afere's IN LOVE WITH DELILAH

I hate love
So I ate gloves
For protection against Cupid.
It's Stupid.

Please ignore my ignorance.
Else look for another
Versed in arrogance
Who thinks he has stamina
Enough to under-stand women.

The pain
My stain leaves
Chains in my brain
A train of thoughts
Derailed by lovers
Whose butts
Sat on my Heart
And Broke it.

It's much like school
Heart break time
Such a wonderful thing.
They don't teach you anything!
You play, get played.
Lay, get laid.

And when the bell goes
For you to get some class,
You play truant and stay
Soiling you hands
Washing your dirty linen
In public...

It's funny
For the first time
Again
I fell in love with Delilah.
I'm going to get my haircut
Tonight

So this poem is just
The brain child of stupidity.
The barber whispers and I smile:
Only two things can kill a man
A bullet
Or
A woman.

Pandemonic panicky
Powerfully panaceaic

I see a mastery of diction
Here with "P" words
Criss-crossing the fabric

Penetrating passages of
