I DIDN'T WANT SUNUSI LAMIDO SUNUSI AS THE 14TH EMIR OF KANO.

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

A higher calling he should have answered
Mount Everest he could easily have conquered
But like all princes, "HRH, The King!", his dream
To be heard in a Durbah, let an 'Algaita' scream
Leader of men, "Mazaa!". Pamperer of his Queen
She, drenched in Edenly scents, fitted silk, soft satin
Children laughing, cheering excitedly at his sight
Subjects raising in a salute, fists clenched tight.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano

I see in him one to pursue sound education
Not just for Kano, but for the whole nation
Taking the poor to "Valueville" as residents
Empower the whole, a visionary President
Secure the minds, assure us with certainty
A warrior king, fighting off every calamity
"Taking the bull by the horn", celebrated on radio
Heard, read, seen in every home via net vimeo.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

I wanted him, O so very knowledgeable
Experienced, principled and very capable
To lead by examples, divined from above
And develop us, the city further with love
Not seeking for fame nor flight in planes
Willing to sacrifice it all, feeling our pains
Rain showers in valleys, bearing no flood
Running in our guttered midst, a blue blood.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

Many are want to ask me why
My response comes from on high
Based on his qualities and big clout
There's in me not an iota of doubt
He should occupy Africa House first
Aso Rock Villa can then come up next
In both, let there be twain of a quatrain
Spend 4, another to complete the gains.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

Someone also asked me a strange one
It sounds funny, but seems a logical plan
"Can't the Emir become our Governor?
Execute his tenure with glorious honors
Or even become the Number One citizen
Since he's globally renown, a 'netizen'?"
Thereafter, go back to being a revered monarch
Wouldn't that put in us a huge spark?"

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

At least not just yet, but in another decade
Plus 6 annual songs, the 15th in a parade
I know I ain't no custodian of time
So I can't really guarantee the chime
But I would've been busy supplicating
To God I will kneel down, prostrating
May he breath long enough, to fulfill it
A King at last, on a majestic throne to sit.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

Knowing what I know of the new ruler
In this present digital age, time and era
Believe me, we couldn't have had it better
Chosen to suit us Kanawa, to the letter
So, it was divinely revealed from the Truth
Initially, sails are not necessarily smooth
So storms may rage, lightening plus thunder
But calm restores wealth. Soon we will all wonder.

I didn't want Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
As the 14th Emir of Kano.

This I know, "Soldier come, soldier go"
As politicians come, lies often from them flow
Their's, might in real-time be profound in effect
But it's temporary, such legacies show defects
If there's anything to celebrate about our King
Is the fact, his reign is a lifetime undertaking
So, as the custodian of our people's progress
We are blessed with one not known to digress.

*Silent supplication* :-

As Allaah Will have it, Sunusi Lamido Sunusi
Is the new, the 14th Emir of Kano
Nothing happens except by Allaah's Knowledge
And for a very good reason too.
So, "In Allaah, let the believers put their trust"
May Allaah SWT Assist the new King
Make him a huge success
In this very difficult and herculean task
He Has Entrusted upon him
Amin thumma amin.
