WHITE SHADOW

...by Poetic Tee "Here, take a sip"

The Shadow
I adore,
So short, can be non-visible
So long, it stretches to infinity
Yes, it "abandons" you in the dark
So what?
Who needs a torch light
In broad day light?

The Shadow
A loyal friend
From entry to exit
Stays with you cradle to grave
Bearing witness to all you do
Or is done to you?
In the open or in confinement
A dark attire to all matter.

The Shadow
Master of mimicry
Not in living colors
Or in 3 dimensions
Consistently there
Even in the dark
For the few with eyes
In their mind, that see.

The Shadow
Doesn't discriminate between
The cheap and the expensive
The ugly and the beautiful
The poor and the rich or
The crude and the refined
Casting all in the same hue
A soft shade of black.

The Shadow
Lessons us that, like it
We should survive a swallow
By the monstrous darkness
Emerging refreshed, each time
Light shines upon us after
Experiencing fear, gloom
Dark days and stormy nights.

The Shadow
Unlike the mirror
That reflects what stands before it
Is forever in a free fall
Onto any surface found
Since air and space refuse it
A plane to embrace
So, why aren't you ever white, O shadow?
