Writing poetry is easy if you go with the flow of your mind and heart. Poetry is an expression in motion. Poetry can express thousand emotions in a single sentence. 1. Pay heed to small things: Poetry can be written on things around you. Get inspired by anything that catches your attention. It could be nature, people, emotions or some situation. Observe things because that plays the most important part in writing poetry. If your observation skills are good, only then you can jot down whatever you see and weave it into a beautiful poem.

2. Read different kinds of poems: Make a habit to read different kinds of poems. It can help you to learn different ways of writing poetry. You would also get to know how to express your emotions and feelings through a poem. Though, everyone has a different style of writing poetry, reading can help a lot to enhance your style.

3. Select on rhyme: If you do not wish to follow a meter while writing your poem, then your problem is solved in the very first step. You just have to write what comes to your mind. But if you wish to write a poem with a rhyme scheme, you will have to very careful with the words you use. If you find it hard to come up with rhyming words, you can take help from websites that offer rhyme search for words.

4. Use your imagination: There is no rule book for poetry. Use your imagination to the fullest when you sit to write a poem. Pay attention to the tone of your poem. If you are writing a love poem, it should have a romantic tone. On the other hands, if you are writing on a grave issue, your poem’s tone should be serious. Whatever be the case, the tone should always be interactive.

5. Pay attention to the language: Writing poetry is an expression of the heart, but many amateur writers go overboard with the language at times. Poetry should always invoke a thought in the reader’s mind. And language plays a vital role in doing that. Do not use prepositions or adverbs in excess. If possible, use action verbs to emote a strong feeling in the poetry. Personify objects to enhance the appeal of the poem.

6. Be honest:If you are writing poetry for the first time, then be prepared for rejection. Not everyone out there will appreciate your poem. But, continue to be honest with your work. Write from your heart and do not stop writing even if the feedback is not good. Practice makes everyone perfect, so go for that perfection.
