Ever witnessed
the metamorphosis ...
of an agama lizard
into a crocodile?
For undergoing
that transformation,
everything about it
must of essence change.
From a humble menu
to a sizeable shelter,
Long-term playmates
End up as stalemates.
From open air needs
to exotic delicacies.
Thereafter, a fast river
It must seek to dwell.
Often forgetting
the land nooks
crevices and niches
it once crawled in for safety.
Feeding fat on fishes
Taking bites off thirsters
Soon to laugh out a cry
As tidal flows suddenly dries.
